Microsoft has released Office Mobile for iPhone for Office 365 Home Premium and Office 365 ProPlus subscribers. The new app is similar to Microsoft’s Office Mobile for Windows Phone platform and enables improved Office content viewing and on-the-go editing capabilities on the iOS. The Office Mobile for iPhone is available at no extra charge on the Apple’s App store.

To start, you need to sign in to an Office 365 account. Afterwards, you can access, view and edit MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents. Microsoft says Office Mobile ensures content and formatting intact, keeping the look consistent across devices.

“When we launched Office 365 earlier this year, we committed to delivering regular updates and new capabilities to Office 365 subscribers. Since then, we’ve expanded Skype calling and added new OneNote features. Office Mobile is another great example of the value of subscribing to Office 365, and I can guarantee you, there will be lots more to come,” says Microsoft’s Julia White, General Manager, Microsoft Office Division in a blog post.

Microsoft further says Office Mobile ensures quick and easy access to Office content, even in the cloud on SkyDrive or SkyDrive Pro. So, when you’re using your iPhone, it’ll be easier to access the content you viewed on your PC in the Recent Documents panel. Also, you can view and edit Office documents sent in e-mail.

Office Mobile has also been optimised for smaller screens. Functions such as Slide Navigator enables you to page through PowerPoint presentations faster and Speaker Notes enables practice presentations on the go.

“When reviewing Word documents on your phone, the Resume Reading feature takes you to the exact point in the document where you left off on your computer so you never miss a beat.”

Moreover, Office Mobile comes with built-in sharing features. You can make quick edits and share documents right from the phone. When working with others, you can review comments in Word and Excel documents on your phone and add your own. When you’re done, you can save directly to SkyDrive or SkyDrive Pro or just send as an email attachment.
